Before starting, I will explain a little what the city is like. The main attraction in Dubrovnik is the old town, which is surrounded by a huge wall, ramparts, fortresses and towers. Within the old town there are also many restaurants, apartments, shops and churches. The architecture is old but well maintained and there is a beautiful stone pavement throughout the center.

Along the north walls of Old Town – Peline Ulica
Head to the base of the northern walls and look down the alleys towards the center of the old town. This view is especially beautiful for night photography when the colors of the street lights bounce off the old stone walls.
Ul. od Pua
Starting with one of the most beautiful streets “Ul. I like Pua, Croatia 'in the lower part of the city, where you will find many long streets like the one below. What I love about these streets are the lanterns with the attached store names. These streets can be very busy during the day and in high season, so I recommend arriving early to take the best photos.
Stradun from the City Walls
The highlight of a visit to Dubrovnik is heading to the city walls, where you'll get great views in all directions of the city. When you first climb the walls from the western entrance, you will be able to get a view as shown below. I shot this with an ND filter and long exposure to blur the movement of people a bit.

City Walls – Southwest Corner
Towards the southwest part of the ramparts, you will have a view towards the Lovrijenac castle. Sometimes there are very strong waves, which when taken with a long exposure can create a wonderful effect. I did not have good waves during my visit but I saw photos from other people where the waves were much better.

Porporela (lighthouse)
Near Dubrovnik, the Old Port is a small lighthouse and benches. This is a great place to relax and watch the boats come in and out of the harbor and you can even watch people swimming in the water. It is a great place for photos towards the port of the old city, houses in the hills or towards the sea.

Along Jadranska Cesta (Highway 8)
The photo below is of the bus I was traveling on from Dubrovnik airport. If you are driving, you should be able to find safe places to stop along this road to carry binoculars as shown below. Hope these are good sunset spots too when the sun sets behind the city from this angle. If you are on the bus and want to take a similar photo, please sit on the left side of the bus that goes from the airport to the city, and on the right side when heading towards the airport.
