1. Northern Lights: One of the biggest draws in Iceland is witnessing the spectacular Northern Lights. It is a breathtaking display of natural light that occurs only in the winter and is a phenomenon that much be experienced in itself. In order to witness Northern Lights, the conditions must be perfect; thousands of travelers have been disappointed. It is a phenomenon that must be seen in person, no amount of pictures can do justice to it.

2. Blue Lagoon: This man made spa has crystal clear water and is the only site on earth where you can swim throughout the year in 40 degree centigrade and yet be surrounded by snow. It is also the most photographed attraction in Iceland.

3. Whale Watching tour: There are more than twenty species of cetacean in the Icelandic coastal waters. Whale watching tour is a unique experience that can be taken on a larger vessel or a small power boat. In addition to blue whales, tourists can watch a number of sea animals.

4. Go Horseback riding: The Icelandic Horse is the countrys famous four legged resident. It is easily recognizable for its stature and is famed for its reliability. The horse is as unique as a horse class can be. In a horse riding tour, tourists can enjoy the Icelandic nature. These tours are led by certified horse riding instructors and usually last for 90 minutes.

5. See Dettifoss Waterfall in North Iceland: The Dettifoss is found in Vatnajokull National Park and is the most powerful waterfall. It falls 44 metres from the Jokulsa a Fjollum river and creates a spectacular natural site.

6. Visit the West Fjords: Westfjords is known for a rich history full of magic, mysticism and folklore. It is beautiful and culturally fascinating. West Fjords boasts the northernmost glacier in Iceland and makes up the gorgeous landscape. You can take a visit to Arctic Fox Centre and examine the history and culture of the region.

Try Snorkelling: Golden Circle is the most popular sightseeing route of Iceland and comprises of three major attractions, Pingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall and Haukadalur Geothermal Valley. Visitors can undertake the Golden Circle in the morning and add snorkeling or snowmobiling tour for adventure.

8. Go Ice caving: Iceland is the land of frozen landscapes. It is a country of floating icebergs and dazzling blue glacier ice caves. Iceland lives upto its name in the winder and is covered with glittering white snow. You can go hiking or ice caving up the glaciers and see the mighty giants from up close.

9. Seljavallalaug Pool: This pool is the oldest outdoor swimming pool in Iceland. It is an architectural marvel which is built into wet hillside and is forever channeling the warm water which gushes from the rock face from the side.

10. Hornstrandir Nature Reserve: The northernmost part of Westfjords is Hornstrandir. The cliffside peaks at 534m above the sea level and provides a perfect habitat for the greatest seafowl colonies on earth. Due to general poverty and geological isolation it has only few inhabitants.
