The Union Jack flag of the British had flown high for centuries over the Red Fort until it was trumped by the tricolor Indian flag in the year 1947. Since then, the place has been the center for Independence Day celebrations. This year on 15th August India would be celebrating 72nd Independence Day.The Independence Day Parade at Red Fort is something that we all look forward to watching on T.V on 15th August morning, every year (considering the fact that seats are difficult to get and normal citizens can hardly get a chance to be a part of the audience at Red Fort, Delhi).This year too at 72nd Independence Day, celebrations will be held all around the country with Red Fort occupying the central position. The Indian air force, navy and police congent parade after the flag is hoisted and the national anthem is sung. There will be expos following the cultural and social tradition of India which will also include the scenes of Indias freedom fights. The 72nd Independence Day will see Narendra Modi giving his speech for the fifth time which will also be the last one in his term. Last year he addressed quite a few issues such as mob violence, demonetization, womens empowerment and GST. According to Economic Times, this year the government has established an informal panel that will work to frame the ministers speech. The group is said to include Rajnath Singh, the Home Minister, Nitin Gadkari, the Road and Transport Minister and Piyush Goyal, the Finance Minister. Modi ji had also invited suggestions from the common people for his speech this time. He tweeted about the special forum created for the purpose of the Narendra Modi app and the last date for the submission of such suggestions was 31st July. There is no dearth of security measures taken to ensure safety and smooth running of events at Red Fort on this day. The Fort will remain closed for a few days till 15th August to make preparations for the event and special groups of passenger profiling sleuths and mufti-wearing intelligence will be engaged at different countries for keeping a watch at the different stations. Also, CISF personnel have been engaged at the airports for a thorough checking of the passengers and their luggage during this time period. Both uniformed and plain-dressed personnel have been deployed in the airport for checking purpose. Passengers are being searched in the metro stations of Delhi and additional QRTs (Quick Reaction Teams of CISF) have been deployed at some of the stations that have the maximum footfall. CISF has naturally increased its workforce to meet these security demands.
