After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, New Zealand is preparing to gradually reopen its borders to visitors.

It is the first time since 2020 that the country has reopened in response to the pandemic. It is said to have been closed since then.

According to the report, fully vaccinated New Zealanders in Australia will be able to return home without separation from government facilities from February 27, while New Zealanders in other parts of the world will do so in two weeks.

In addition, some skilled workers and vaccinated foreigners will be allowed to enter the country from March 13, while 5,000 international students will be allowed to enter from April 12.

Tourists from Australia and other visa-free countries will be allowed to enter the country until July, New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinta Orton said, but tourists from other parts of the world will have to wait until October. The Prime Minister also said that all travelers should stay away for the next 10 days.

He explained that the gradual opening of the border would help people regroup and address staff shortages, while the health system could stem a surge in cases.

He said his strategy with Omicron is to reduce the spread and gradually set limits as part of the plan.

The highly contagious virus is currently spreading around the world and was recently discovered in New Zealand. The number of cases is also said to increase.
