The great reformer, philosopher, and Hindu Monk Swami Vivekananda had visited Kanyakumari in 1892. Vivekananda spent mediating for three days on a vast rock located in the sea in Kanyakumari where the deity Kanya Kumari is believed to have worshipped Lord Shiva. A memorial to honor Swami Vivekananda was constructed in 1970 on this offshore rock.

Just near the coast of Kanyakumari, stands the gigantic sculpture of the legendary Tamil philosopher, and point, Thiruvallar. It is 133 feet tall and was completed in 1999 after 20 years since the foundation stone was laid on 1979. A holy spot at the confluence of ocean known as Triveni Sangam is a tourist attraction in Kanyakumari. Pay respect to the Goddess Kanya Kumari:
Kanya Kumari temple is 3000 years old and is famous for Goddess Kanya Kumari who is known to have destroyed Banasura, the demon king.
