The fourth most luxurious train in the world, Palace on Wheels is an initiative by the Indian Railways to provide you with the most luxurious and extravagant train experience one can ever have. This train started on 26 January, 1982 and re-launched in August in 2009 with an entirely new interiors and menu for delightful cuisines. Talking about the lavish features of this train it has 23coachesin which a total of 104 tourists can travel. Each coach is named after formerRajput statesand matches the aura and interiors of the royal past: Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Dholpur, Dungargarh, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kishangarh,Kota,SirohiandUdaipur.Each coach has four cabins with the most lavish facilities you would want in a train. The train has two restaurants that are named The Mah?r?jaandThe Mah?r?ni, with aRajasthaniambience. Continental, Chinese cuisines are also served in the train. To add to its magnificence it has one bar cum lounge, 14 saloons and a spa. There are 14 air conditioned coaches in the train and all of them are designed to provide you with a king like experience. Magnificence drips from every corner of the coach which is crafted with wall to wall carpeting, ancient paintings and antique mirrors hanging from the walls. You will receive a fresh bouquet of flowers every day to make your journey a delightful one. Every coach has large, soft bed and you can have a comfortable sleep even while on train. Places you discover on your Journey- You will see a number of beautiful landscapes from your window while you cross so many different cities. The train primarily crosses the Rajasthan area. The total course of the train is 7 nights & 8 days. It starts from New Delhi(Day 1), and coversthe deserts and sands of Jaipuron the second day. On the third day its journey it travels through Sawai Madhopur andChittaurgarh. You can see the landscapes of Udaipur from its window while your journey on Day 4 or just drop down to explore Udaipur. Further on Day 5 you move across Jaisalmerand on Day 6 you can have the pleasure of seeing whatJodhpurlooks like. On day 7 it travels to BharatpurandAgraand finally it returns to New Delhi on the 9th day of its journey.
