Saudi Arabia imposes 3 year travel ban for citizens visiting 'red list' countries

By admin.ngtraveller | Jul 30, 2021

Saudi Arabia has banned travel or transit in countries that have recorded an increase in Covid-19 cases or where new variants have spread. These include India, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Ethiopia, Somalia, Congo, Afghanistan, Venezuela, and Belarus.

Khaleej Times reported that an unidentified official said the government had received information that citizens were traveling to banned countries in flagrant violation of travel rules.

“Travel to banned countries is a clear violation of Covid-19 related travel restrictions and updated instructions from the kingdom,” said an unidentified official from the Saudi Ministry of Interior.

The official explained, "The Ministry of Interior confirms that citizens are still prohibited from traveling directly or through another country to these countries or any other country that still needs to control the epidemic or where new strains have spread."
