The Subbayya Gari Hotel has a beautiful phrase that completely describes it. “ A great hotel that confuses you whether you went out or came home. ”
The Subbayya gari hotel had started as a small mess with 10 people in the year 1950 for just 0.50 paisa. In the year 1955, it started to expand as a Subbayya gari hotel at the East Godavari district capital, Kakinada. And as of now, it is one of the most famous vegetarian restaurants in the Godavari Districts.

Have you ever had a meal with about 30 dishes? I guess no. Sounds like an eating challenge right? At the Subbayya Gari Hotel, you get to indulge yourself in this huge Thali.
The décor of the restaurant looks simple without any frills. There are wooden tables and chairs, cheerful and warm waiters wearing green tees with their brand name printed on it and guests enjoying their meals.
“We serve authentic traditional food. This is our attempt to introduce items of earlier times to the new generation,” Mr G Srikanth, the owner and Mr G Subbayya, his grandson had started this iconic hotel in the town of Kakinada in the year 1955. His grandfather is his role model. He said, “He had worked really hard to create this brand. He was very humble and even after the hotel became very popular, he would still do all the things by himself. He would visit the market and buy vegetables and other groceries needed for the hotel.”
The first meal at Subbayya Gari Hotel had started from the price of 50 paise in Kakinada and people used to visit this place a lot because of its hospitality. Mr K Ramaraju, hotel partner said, “Kosaru kosaru vaddinchadam ma pratyekata. We love to feed people and our waiters are warm and welcoming and they encourage the guests to try every item.”
Some of the amazing dishes served here lay include perugu vada and many others. The thali is served with small quantities on a banana leaf. The pulihora tastes amazing while the munakaya special curry is a spicy gravy curry which can be had with rice. There are two choices of pakodi - vankaya and dondakaya pakodi curry. They also have the punugula kurma curry. Do taste the aritikaya bajji and definitely try their keema biryani made with soya chunks. Their Mamidikaya Pappu is irresistible and tastes it along with steamed rice and a little bit of ghee.
