The island has a growing status as a wedding destination for couples from all over the world.

Things To do-

You must have seen white houses and beautiful location of Greece in various magazines or photo shoots. They all are from Oia. This is the major attraction of Santorini as it is the most famous village in the entire Santorini. It is known for its peaceful environment and mesmerizing sunset. Byzatine Castle ruins are the best place for site seeing and photography here.

Visit Akrotiri

Akrotiri is a 3,500-year-old Minoan town buried under volcanic ash. The ash helped in the preservation of many artifacts, fine frescoes and many other objects. This excavation site is covered by a roofing system, which makes it comfortable to visit at all times of year. The ruins are extremely well preserved and the art works have been displayed in museums. Streets, buildings, stairs of this ancient civilization are still visible.

See the museum of Prehistoric Thira

The museum is located in Fira and it has a mass collection of artifacts that were found in the ruins of Akrotiri. You will see many pots and pottery of the ancient civilization along with frescoes of the blue monkeys. (Although, there is no evidence that monkeys ever lived on this island.) Its open daily except for Tuesdays from 8:30am-3pm.

Go to the Red Beach

This spectacular beach on Santorini Island has a red volcanic cliff worth seeing. On the southeastern side of the island there is also a black sand beach which is an all new experience.

Visit a Winery

Santorini has a lot of incredible wineries all due to the fertile volcanic land that is perfect for growing grapes. Take a winery tour through the island with your travel guide. These tours give you an amazing experience and it takes about half a day. You can also rent an ATV and be your own tour guide. But be careful, dont drink too much.

Santorini is what remained after an enormous volcanic eruption. Therefore it has a very rough landscape. But that is where the beauty of Santorini lies. So visit the volcanos caldera and take a dip into the hot springs. Others things to do include donkey ride and photography.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is a very different experience here. You get a chance to visit ancient wrecks in the harbor. You can get down into the water to about 14 meters and see ancient Greek ships. There isnt much visibility and you wont see a lot of fish. But that is what makes it unique. A dive to see ancient shipwrecks. You can also go for snorkeling.

Walk up and along the cliffs

Santorini is not just for the couples but for the photographers too. The view from the cliffs is worth the tough climb. You can see the whole island and the surrounding oceans.Expenses-It is always advisable to book your tours at a travel website. It is budget friendly and safe.
