The trek itself is 4 to 5 km long (one way); the difficulty level is medium and it could be covered in a span of 5 hours both to and from. The trekking shoes are very important for a firm grip. During monsoon season the shoes are more important. The routes have been well marked for the convenience of visitors. Jivdhan is a part of the famous five trekking destinations. Chava and, Hadsar, Shivneri, and Naneghat are the rest of five famous trekking destinations. Due to misleading track, Jivdhan is difficult to trek. The trekking needs the depth knowledge of the Jungle paths and there are lots of various climbing equipment. The one major point is Kalyan Gate, it is wonderfully carved. Naneghat is accessible from Junnar as well as from Kalyan. Usually, its trekked from the Kalyan side, this is an amazing trekking experience from this side. The most beautiful view can be at Naneghat from the Junnar side via Ghatghar village. If you are coming from Kalyan side catch any (State Transport) ST bus going towards Alephata or Junnar via Malshej Ghat, and get down at Naneghat starting point. Naneghat is not an official bus stop, so be very conscious while sitting on a bus, in order to get down at Naneghat. So once you reach over there, you will find a board on your right-hand side Naneghat Gumfa Marg. It is written in Marathi, due to an easy understanding of commoners. Trekkers who come by Pune side, need to reach Alephata by ST bus, then they have to take the next bus to reach Kalyan via Malshej Ghat, and they also get down at some point. Direct buses are also available from Pune to Kalyan, but there is less frequency of direct buses. Another option to reach Naneghat from Pune is to take a State Transport bus from Pune to Junnar., then from there take another State Transport bus to Ajanwale village from Junnar, and then get down at Ghatghar village. To reach the top of the Naneghat, it takes almost one hour while walking.Almost it takes two days to trek. So if you are comfortable to start your journey to Naneghat on a Saturday afternoon and plan an overnight stay there. The total hiking trail from the starting point to top is 4.5 KM long. The entire length of the path has diverse terrains. The first 2 km a muddy place with patches of greenery in between. The freshness of pure air will give you a heavenly feeling. The walkway, when turns a steep it gives cues to upclimbing. There are multiple resting spots to take pictures of the charming natural beauty. the stopover place will give an apparent distant view of Naneghat. The travelers can enjoy there for some time while moving forward towards foggy clouds. A lot of crabs can be seen along the pathways. On approaching the small hilly terrain, two water streams could be seen. The major climb to the hilltop starts after this stream crossing, with the steep hills appearing. The pathways can be easily crossed but afterward, the trekkers should be careful with rocky terrain. Extra attention may be required in the monsoon season, as the water from the top trickles down through these rocks. When the trekkers cross this stream, they can proceed upwards. At this point in time, half of the trekking will be completed.Usually, the trekking from the starting point to the top takes less than 2.5 hours. During night trekking is a little bit difficult during monsoons. As the area gets covered with thick mist and torchlight is not the proper solution. Food and accommodation are available at the top. A cave can accommodate more than 30 trekkers at a time. Few hotels are also available, where trekkers can take rest. If you are planning an accommodation in the cave, carrying a chain will be recommended to take care of your belongings. Trekkers can carry blanket and sleeping bags with them. The inscriptions on the wall of the cave at Naneghat gives the feeling of historical importance. These inscriptions are still visible. The left and right walls have two long inscriptions, and the back wall has small inscriptions on the top.The inscriptions have been dated by scholars to the last centuries of the 1st millennium BCE. Most scholars date it to the early 1st-century BCE, some to 2nd-century BCE, a few to even earlier. At the distance of 100 meters from the cave, trekkers can spot the paved road to Ghatkopar village. Trekkers can find hotels and restaurants along the roadside. The famous reverse waterfall is 20 minutes away from the paved road. There is a muddy road on the top, on your right side while climbing up from the cave, that will take you to the reverse waterfall. The eye-catching landscape will be a visual treat to trekkers. The surrounding is covered with green grass and small ponds with crystal clear water. One can find different types of aquatic plants in these ponds. The reverse waterfall forms during the heavy monsoon period. Owing to the high-pressure winds in this season, the water starts to flow back upwards. After spending a quality time amidst nature trekkers return to Ghatkopar village. To reach the Ghatkopar village, one need to walk all the way back to the paved road, and then a further 3 KM walk on the paved road. Trekkers can find paddy fields and small streams with fresh water. There is a junction near the village, the road on the left side goes to Ajanwale village, and the one the right side heads towards Junnar. This trekking will be a lifetime experience for takers. So this vacation tries something different, try something adventurous and start taking to Naneghat and have an incredible memory in your life.
