The Ananthagiri Hills are located at the Vikarabad district in Telangana, India. The water from these hills flows to the Hussain Sagar and the Himayath Sagar.

  1. Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple

The temple is located in the hills of Ananthagiri. It is located at a distance of about 75 kilometers from Hyderabad. Lord Vishnu is in the form of Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy and Ananthagiri is the name given after him. You will find a nice hotel located near the temple operated by the Telangana Government.


  1. Nagasamudram Lake

There is a lake near the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple known by the name "Nagasamudram Lake" or kotipally reservoir. It is located near to a dam and around 20 km from the Ananthagiri hills. The lake is also a masonry dam. The place has amazing views during the monsoon season. 


  1. Trekking

The Ananthagiri Hills are also popularly known for trekking. The place has two trekking trails in the forests of Ananthagiri. One route starts from the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple and the other route starts approx 0.5 kilometers from the temple, towards Kerelli.

The Dolphin's Nose is a massive rock measuring about 357 m high that has been extended out of a sea in the shape of the Dolphin's nose. A lighthouse has been built on this huge rock and the beam of the lighthouse is visible to about 65 km away from the sea.

The Araku Tribal Museum is a place that showcases the culture, handicrafts, fine art and tradition of the tribal people from the Eastern Ghats. The museum has a display of the tools that had belonged to the tribal people and explains how the natives had lived here.

This is an exclusive place to visit in the hills where you will find three top cottages built in the middle of the Araku valley. There are tree huts that swing along the tree hanging about 10 feet above the ground level.

How to reach Ananthagiri Hills

By Air: The nearest airport to the Ananthagiri Hills is The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. You can either take a taxi or a bus from the airport that will take you straight to Vikarabad and the Ananthagiri Hills. This will cost around INR 2000-3000 to reach there.

By Rail: The closest to the Ananthagiri Hills is the Vikarabad railway station. From there, the Hills are around 6 to 7 km away and it takes only 15 to 20 minutes to reach.

By Road: To reach Vikarabad by road from Hyderabad, Stay on the State Highway 4 (SH4) up to Manneguda that will take you straight to the hills. It will take only about 2-3 hours to reach there from Hyderabad.

By Bus: There are regular buses from Hyderabad to Vikarabad run by TSRTC, from where you can take an auto or another bus to reach the Ananthagiri Hills.

We would recommend you to take the road when visiting the Ananthagiri Hills because it is the quickest and pocket-friendly way to reach there. Besides, a road trip will give you an adventurous vibe.
