Morni Hills in Haryana could soon Indias next paragliding destination

By admin.ngtraveller | Feb 09, 2021

The Morni Hills in Haryana will soon become one of the largest paragliding destinations in India. Morni Hills is located in the Panchkula region of the state and was recently visited by a team of professional gliders from the Border Security Force (BSF) to conduct the first two paragliding test flights.

The trial exercise was conducted to confirm the feasibility of one of the most exciting activities in the Panchkula region. Reportedly, a team of BSF personnel deployed to BSF Adventure School in Dehradun arrived in Panchkula to conduct the test flights. The Shivalik Development Board, responsible for the growth of the entire Lower Himalayan region, was overseeing the experiments.

Currently, paragliding activities are carried out in Manali in Himachal Pradesh and Rishikesh in Uttarakhand due to their climate, adequate infrastructure, and topographic conditions.

The Morni Hills share borders with Sirmour in Himachal Pradesh and are located near the Panchkula, Yamuna Nagar, and Ambala districts of Haryana. Morni Hills are located 45 km from Chandigarh and is famous for the Himalayan hills, lakes, and beautiful vegetation.

The news indicates that the BSF began their test flights from the town of Bohri in Morni, which is located at an altitude of 4000 feet above sea level. The team landed on the plains of the town of Palasara. Morni Hills is the only mountainous region in Haryana that is otherwise considered a non-mountainous state, so paragliding activities can boost tourism prospects in the area.
