New Guidance for Char Dham Yatra has been issued. It is now mandatory for Char Dham pilgrims from outside Uttarakhand to carry a negative COVID-19 test report. This was stated by the Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Satpal Maharaj.

According to the latest news reports, Char Dham yatra is scheduled to start on May 14th. The minister also indicated that they could limit the number of pilgrims visiting the shrine on a daily basis.

For further development in this regard, Maharaj stated that pilgrims coming from other states to Haridwar Maha Kumbh, as well as Char Dham Yatra, are required to follow COVID-19 guidelines. He added that the government is fully prepared for the yatra, and as part of the guidelines, worshipers will be required to take a CBNAAT, TrueNaT, or RT-PCR test before coming. He added that pilgrims also have to register online to enter the shrines based on the capacity of the shrines.

With the increase in COVID-19 cases in the state, Uttarakhand's education board announced that they will cancel Class 10 board exams, while Class 12 exams will be postponed until further orders.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Tirath Singh Rawat, has also instructed officials to set up checkpoints at the state border and not allow anyone to enter the state without a negative RT-PCR COVID-19 test report.

The state government of Uttarakhand has also released revised standard operating procedures to prevent the spread of COVID. According to reports, you may now have to pay a fine of INR 500 for not wearing a mask in Uttarakhand, instead of the INR 200 you had before.
