The active volcano, located at an altitude of 1717 meters, is located two hours from the city of Chantamani, one hour and 20 minutes from the central and famous city of Obed. Most of the climb is through forest, so it is possible to hike through Tia Bangka Village. The town is also the headquarters of the Bator Mountain Detectives Association.
