A notice issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the Assam government has made testing for Covid-19 mandatory for all passengers entering the state from another Northeast region due to the large number of cases in the neighboring states.

Assam government has made COVID-19 testing mandatory for all passengers from the northeast region entering the state through airports and train stations.

Earlier, People from northeastern states who arrived in Assam by air or train and went directly to their destination state were exempt from testing for COVID-19.
A notice issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said the decision was made due to the high number of COVID-19 cases in neighboring states. It comes five days after the state government made COVID-19 testing mandatory for vaccinated travelers, withdrawing a previous order exempting mandatory testing for fully vaccinated travelers arriving by air and train. The notification said the mandatory tests would be in effect until new orders are received.
