New airport will set up at Hollongi for Arunachal Pradesh

A new greenfield airport is being set up at Hollongi in Arunachal Pradesh. The airport is located at a distance of 15 km from Itanagar and connects the state by air.

A new greenfield airport is being set up at Hollongi in Arunachal Pradesh. The airport is located at a distance of 15 km from Itanagar and connects the state by air. The new greenfield airport is being built at a cost of about Rs 645 crore.

The airport will be upgraded by the Airport Authority of India and its terminal building, city side works, footpath and airport side works will be completed. The airport will be available for operation of A-321 type aircraft. The runway is expected to be extended by 500 meters to intercept A-321 aircraft from the airport.

The airport is being constructed to accommodate 200 passengers during peak hours. Covering an area of 4,100 square metres, the airport will have eight check-in counters. The airport will be made equipped with all modern facilities for the passengers.

The Hollongi airport should be ready for work by August 15, 2022 and as per reports 80 per cent of the work on the Hollongi airport side has been completed. The terminal will be an energy storage building with a rainwater harvesting system and sustainable landscaping. The airport will have a medical center, fire station and more.
