Sikkim decides to lift COVID-19 related restrictions

The Sikkim state government has now announced the removal of covid restrictions. The decision comes after a significant reduction in the number of priority cases to covid 19 in Sikkim. "The Sikkim government on Thursday issued an order stating that the state has decided to lift the ban as the number of incidents of covid 19 has come down significantly," the official said in a statement.

Situated in the Eastern Himalayas, the state is one of the major tourist destinations in the country, paving the way for a new beginning two years after Covid 19. Apart from being the cultural center of Sikkim, the state has some amazing natural sites.

In Sikkim, the state government has decided to open markets, shops and businesses as usual. Educational institutions are also allowed to function in open spaces. The government has decided to carry out social, political, religious, sports and other programs without any interruption.

However, the general public has been urged to remain vigilant as the pandemic is still rampant. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Sikkim currently has 541 active cases.

44877 new COVID-19 infections have been reported in India today, which is 11% less than yesterday. In the last 24 hours, 117591 cases of this virus have been reported in the country and 172.81 million vaccines have been issued so far.
