Indian Railways to launch 10 Vande Bharat trains connecting 40 cities
Indian Railways plans to launch 10 new semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains by August 2022. These trains are said to connect around 40 cities at that time. Indian Railways to launch 10 Vande trains.
Vande Bharat trains are self-designed semi-high speed train sets from India, which take less time to complete journeys as compared to Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains, and also meet international standards. Bharat Railways and is working to add a maximum number of such trains by 2024.
The Minister of Railways recently reviewed the high and medium speed rail projects that have been planned in India. He also instructed interested officials to go ahead with the deployment of such trains and connect at least 40 cities by August 2022, and emphasized that the update should show that the national railway services have been modernized.
Medha Servo Drives Ltd is the company responsible for supplying electrical systems for the development of these trains in January of this year. Now the company has been ordered to simplify its work so that at least two prototypes can be launched in March 2022 following all the implications.
Reports say that the Railways Board held a meeting attended by members of the board of directors, general managers of production units and other engineers to determine the plan for the deployment of those trains.
As of now, two Vande Bharat trains are running on the rails. One was launched on February 15, 2019, which started its commercial run from February 17, 2019, to connect the Delhi-Varanasi route via Kanpur and Prayagraj, while the second train was launched in 2020 to connect Delhi and Katra.
