IndiGo Rolls Out Discount For tourists; Heres How You Can Avail It

At the time of booking, travelers can opt for discounts if they have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

In a move to boost vaccination against coronavirus infection in India, airline IndiGo said it will offer a 10 percent discount to travelers who have taken at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The company's discount offer is applied to the base price and will be offered to individuals based on inventory.

IndiGo discount: What you need

To take advantage of IndiGo's discount offer, travelers will need to present a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This certificate must be presented at the airport check-in counter and at the boarding gate during boarding. The company added that people can also view their vaccination status on the Aarogya Setu mobile app during airport check-in counters and during boarding.

According to Sanjay Kumar, director of strategy and revenue at IndiGo, the airline believes it is its responsibility to contribute to the vaccination campaign taking place in India. Offering discounts to encourage people to get vaccinated can be a step toward a common goal.

The move comes at a time when India is battling the novel coronavirus and the possibility of a third wave of Covid-19 has heightened the urgency of vaccinating more and more people. Many airlines are also taking initiatives to vaccinate their employees and crew members. Earlier this month, Vistara announced that it is focusing on vaccinating all of its crew and airport staff as it makes its maiden flight with a fully vaccinated crew.
