When people ask which is the most beautiful place of worship is? I would just say any place where you can connect to the God. But when you travel the world you would find some magnificent architectural monuments with awe inspiring fade and worshipping there is an experience that you would never forget. I cant exactly say which one is the best amongst the one that I have listed. So you can choose one for yourself. But certainly each place has its own aura and a distinct positivity.
Brihadeeswara Temple,India
The Brihadeeswara Temple,also called as The Big Temple, in Tamil Nadu is an enormous granite Hindu sanctuary which was built in 1010. This splendid structure was created by then emperor Rja Rja Chola I, who was known to be one of Indias greatest leaders.This temple has a very interesting history. It is said that the kumbam (the structure on top of the temple) was built from a single stone that weighs more than 70,000kg. Also the statue of Nandi (the bull) that stands at the entrance of the temple is carved out of a single stone. The statue itself weighs 20,000 kg so imagine how the people transported such heavy weight stones also when the nearest granite sources are more than 60km.The temple itself is wide, spacious and huge. Praying here is like praying in peace, connecting with the spiritual being within you.
Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem
Dome of the Rock is located in Jerusalem and this 7th century shrine is considered as one of the best place of worship by many of those who have been there. It has a significantly impressive dome with more than 80 kg of gold. The octagonal design and bright colored mosaics are thought to be modeled on Byzantine churches and chapels. The Dome of the Rock is important across religions. The Foundation Stone which is located in the shrines floor is considered highly religious and holy. Legends say it is the place where the world war was created. In Islam, the site is considered to be Muhammads final place during the Night Journey from Mecca to Jerusalem. This ancient structure was constructed by two brothers after they met Gautam Buddha, the creator of the Buddhism religion. This temple has all the relics of Lord Buddha placed in it. The Shwedagon Pagoda lies in the busy and crowded centre of the city but once you walk into the sacred place, you feel like you have entered a different realm filled with peace and positivity. You can meditate for hours here without being disturbed. The structure is made keeping in mind the intricate details of the carvings on the walls. The base of the stupa is covered with gold plate and so it is also called as the Golden Pagoda. It is not just gold but the crown is decorated with more than 5,000 diamonds and 2,000 rubies, and the tip of the temple has a single 76-carat diamond. St Peters Basilica, The Vatican
One of the most beautiful and largest church in the world, it is considered to be the best example of Renaissance architecture. All those who understand the essence of architecture and its impact on us can very well relate to the glory of this place. What makes it even more spectacular is that it features the tallest dome in the world with a height of more than 130m high. Nasir ol Molk Mosque, Iran
This isnt a very ancient mosque, it was built in 1888 but why it is in this list is because of its colorful designs. It seems as if it is a kaleidoscope of colors, its beauty cannot be explained in words. The entire building has colorful glass windows that glisten in the sun rays. Also it has elaborate Persian carpets and scrupulously detailed geometric wall paintings. Pray in this mosque that is filled with positivity and vibrancy all around.
