City Palace, Udaipur

This magnificent and beautiful structure if the citys largest palace and is Surmounted by balconies, towers and cupolas towering over the lake. It was built by Maharana Udai Singh II starting back in 1599. This structure is 244m long and 30.4m high. The palace has two entrances, one from the Badi Polat the northern end and theother at the Sheetla Mata Gateto the south. You can buy the tickets from any of the entrances. Even if you have a City Palace Museum ticket you must buy the ?30 City Palace entrance ticket to conveniently pass south throughChandra Chowk Gate, from the Crystal Gallery or Rameshwar Ghat towards the Lake Pichola boat rides. Inside Badi Pol, there are eight arches on the left that memorialize the eight times maharanas. Golden Temple, Amritsar, Punjab

Sun Temple, Konark

It is a breathtakingly and marvelously built temple that is conceived as the cosmic chariot of the sun god Surya and is located in Konark, Odisha. It has seven background horses (representing the days of the week) that move this stone leviathan on 24 stone cartwheels (representing the hours of the day) around the base. The temple was made in such a fashion that the dawn light illuminates thetemple sanctuarys interior and the presiding deity. Themain entrance is guarded by two stone lions crushing elephants and leads to the detailed and carveddancing hall. The structure also has an assembly hall. Gir National Park, Gujarat
