Lahaul Spiti Circuit is arguably the world's best drive. We went there a few years back and what we saw was beyond words. It is a serene and wow place to visit once in your lifetime. From Shimla, you can start via 2 routes: one goes from Manali (clockwise) and the other goes from Kinnaur (anti-clockwise). I would suggest you start from Kinnaur and visit Chandratal towards the end of the journey. You will need to book a cab there for the entire journey. They are cost-effective and know the best places & routes. In any case, this circuit is one of the world's most dangerous routes and you are suggested not to drive but to sit & marvel at the beauty of nature.You can follow the following Itinerary for your trip.Day 1: Delhi to Shimla/Kurfi/Narkanda.For the sake of this itinerary, well start from Delhi which is the nearest metropolitan to Shimla. There are plenty of transportation facilities available for you to travel to Shimla.Day 2: Shimla/Kufri/Narkanda to ChitkulStarting from Shimla in the morning, you may drive towards Kinnaur. Youll reach Chitkul by evening and have a relaxed walk in the town.Day 3: Chitkul to Nako/TaboFor non-Indian passports collect the Inner Line Permits and then you can leave for Tabo. You can have lunch at the beautiful lake in Nako and then drive towards Tabo and reach there by the evening.Day 4: Nako/Tabo to Pin ValleyWhile traveling back from Tabo to Kaza, head left to take the road leading to Pin Valley National Park, heading straight will take you to Kaza. Another 1-hour drive takes you to Pine Valley a popular reserve of flora & fauna in North India. Day 5: Pin Valley to Kaza covering, Kibber Gette Tashigang KiA perfect weekend getaway from Manali, Shimla, Chopta, and Kanatal, Kaza is decked up with rocky mountain slopes and bustling market. Kaza has plenty of attractions and boasts of a world-class facility for travelers.Day 6: Kaza Hikkim Komik Langza KazaYou can spend this day relaxing in Kaza town and visit the nearby areas.Day 7: Kaza to Chandratal Lake via Kunzum Pass to BattleChandratal a crescent-shaped lake makes for one of the most awe-inspiring escapades. It is one of the key highlights of the 9 days Spiti Valley trip. The lake has also remained in the news after people confirmed UFO-like objects sighted in the area.Day 8: Battle to Manali/Mandi via Rohtang PassYou can end your 9-day Spiti valley tour getting back to Manali via the famous Rohtang Pass. Rest of the year its very cold and months of July-August can be avoided due to the rainfall. Although Spiti gets very little rainfall, it is still advisable to avoid it during these 2 months.One Warning, if you want to enjoy a comfortable ride then Spiti Valley circuit is not for you. This circuit will test your limits; it will frustrate you, it will challenge you, it will tire you but the achievement and peace you will get and places you visit on this Circuit will be worthy enough to give you a memory of a lifetime.
