Travellers,By Heart These Safety and Hygiene Tips for Your Next Flight

Since the discovery of the first coronavirus case, the situation has gone from bad to worse; Make hygiene and safety a top concern for everyone, especially travelers. Beginning in March, travel bans were imposed on most of the world, but now, slowly and gradually, authorities are giving a green flag to the commercial flight operation and hinting that the ban will be lifted. Soon, airlines will allow travelers of all stripes to plan trips.

Although the airport authorities are taking all necessary measures to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, there are still possibilities of becoming infected or becoming a carrier of the virus during the trip. Therefore, we have compiled a list of important tips to memorize before your next air trip:

Before Travelling

  • Check your health at least a week before your flight and avoid traveling in case you feel sick.
  • Take the right vitamins every day, including vitamin C and vitamin D, along with zinc to boost your immunity.
  • Get vaccinated against influenza or infection before traveling to reduce the risk of infection by viruses or bacteria.

  • Pack some homemade food, energy bars, disposable gloves and masks, alcohol-based disinfectants, and wipes.
  • To keep contact with airport officials to a minimum, save all your required IDs and important documents at check-in in trusted apps like "DigiLocker". It must also carry the original identifiers.

While Travelling

  • Be sure to wear a clinically approved mask (N95 mask is preferred) and gloves at all times within the airport and on the aircraft.
  • Full cooperation with airport security personnel to ensure the total safety of you and other passengers.
  • Avoid touching public areas such as door handles, elevators, or seats at the airport and on the plane. In case of any contact, disinfect your hands immediately.
  • Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet while queuing and avoid contact with passengers or other officials.
  • Wash your hands with soap often and avoid touching your face (including eyes, nose, and mouth). Also, make sure you have a bottle of sanitizer on hand at all times.

  • Sanitize your hand immediately after touching the seat belt or ventilation grille during flight.
  • Trust bottled water and be aware of food contamination. Drinking water from airport water dispensers is prohibited. Eat snacks brought from home to reduce the chances of eating unsafe foods.
  • Be very careful when using public restrooms and try not to touch anything just by washing your hands. Apply hand sanitizer after leaving the bathroom.

On Reaching the Destination

  • Once the plane lands, be sure not to touch common areas such as elevator rails, counters, or luggage with your bare hands.
  • Always wear gloves, which must be discarded after arriving at the hotel.
  • Online payment is preferred to avoid any contact with contaminated currency or receipts.
  • Book only a 100% healthy and safe hotel that takes all necessary measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Please inform hotel staff prior to arrival so they can disinfect the room and keep it ready.
  • Once you arrive at the accommodation, take a hot shower and wash your used clothes to reduce the risk of spreading the infection.
  • Prefer in-room dining, over a busy restaurant.
